Episode 53 – Nukes, Radiation, And Burns

A much-ignored explosion at an Iranian nuclear site last December may have heralded Iran’s entrance into the world’s nuclear club. Iran has been enriching uranium for years, and it may finally have developed nuclear bombs. I believe this is the case, and Iran is probably making smaller nuclear bombs like what was exploded in early December. Small nuclear bombs can be hiked in backpacks into enemy countries and detonated.

This was all hypothesized in my book EMP NYC, and it looks as if it may be coming true.

A small (2 kiloton) nuclear bomb can be used to do all kinds of damage, like destroying bridges, buildings, and stadiums full of people. But a few miles away, people are not so threatened, as was shown in this test by Army volunteers who, in 1957, stood 3 miles beneath a 2 kiloton nuclear explosion. If they had had any electronics with them, the electronics would have been fried by an EMP, but they were not physically harmed.

Still, despite the media blackout on the explosion in Iran, it is time to stock up on radiation pills, radiation detection equipment, and items that can help in case of skin burns.

Here are some great pills to have on hand in case you are downwind of a nuclear explosion, in danger of getting exposed to radioactive fallout. Right now these pills are cheap and plentiful. Dosage info comes with the pills.

A dosimeter is important to measure your accumulated radiation. Here is the link to a combination dosimeter / geiger counter, but at $130 it is a bit pricey. Here is the link to a less-expensive credit-card size dosimeter that you can keep in your wallet.

Burns also accompany nuclear explosions, and I spent some time in the podcast discussing the usefulness of aloe vera plants and coconut oil.

Here is the link to an indoor aloe vera plant, available on Amazon for only $5. (Some states may not allow you to order these.) Aloe vera plants are great to have around to treat burns. Back in the old days these plants were kept in kitchens, to use for cooking burns.

Coconut oil is great to have around, not only to treat burns and moisturize skin, but also to use as an oil and butter substitute in cooking.  I mentioned some great deals on coconut oil that I found at Walmart and Costco, but here is a pretty good deal I found on coconut oil at Amazon.

Episode 49 – Preparing For The Death Of A Loved One

It is a difficult subject, but everyone eventually dies, and we all must know how to prepare for and what we must do when a loved one dies.

Consulting and possibly hiring a licensed attorney in your jurisdiction is important in not only preparing a will but also in estate planning in general. It would also be a good idea to check out Nolo Press’ books on the subject: Willmaker and Trust Book And Software Kit For 2021, and The Executor’s Guide: Settling A Loved One’s Estate Or Trust. I like Nolo Press. It is a collection of legal guides that are written by attorneys but in plain language that non-attorneys can understand.

There is one good book, Before I Go, that everyone should use to prepare their loved ones to get together assets, insurance polices and the rest as they enter the probate process.

All this talk of death reminds me that the Kindle version of my book, EMP NYC, which has a very high death toll, is free for a few days on Amazon. Go to the link here.

Episode 47 – Blacklisting Returns

Did you support President Trump’s re-election? Are you a conservative or a Christian? You may soon be blacklisted because the cancel culture is out there, de-platforming, doxing, physically threatening and ending the careers of people just like you. All in the name of public safety. No one dares call it blacklisting, but that’s what it is.

It goes way beyond closing the Twitter and Facebook accounts of President Trump and those who worked for him. Whole social media websites, like Parler and Gab, which freely allow conservative content, are being shut down. One woman was recently fired for even having Parler and Gab accounts.

Without a hint of shame, Congresswoman Alexandria Ocacio-Cortez (“AOC”) proposed the “Trump Accountability Project,” in which former Trump officials will be “held accountable” for their work with President Trump. Forbes Magazine, and the Lincoln Project have also gotten into the act.

The businesses of private citizens who supported President Trump are in the cross-hairs. One business, Taking Cara Babies, has had its customers harassed and is the subject of a boycott, simply because the founder was one of the 74 million Trump voters in 2020. Mike Lindell’s company, My Pillow, is also undergoing the same blacklisting because of his personal support of President Trump.

PBS’ Principal Counsel was recently recorded saying out loud what many establishment liberals privately think: that children of Trump supporters should be taken away and put into re-education camps. This sounds a lot like the Soviet gulag system under Joseph Stalin, documentaries of which are shown all the time on PBS. Maybe this attorney should watch one.

It gets worse. The Congress is now considering an anti-terrorism bill that Former Democratic Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard predicts would someday enable the government to persecute Christians, conservatives and libertarians.

We may be entering an era when free-thinking people will need to keep their heads down, limit their Internet posts and keep their political opinions to themselves. And plan your preps accordingly.

At the end of the podcast, I referred to the work of historian John Glubb, who has shown that most great empires have a lifespan of 250 years. With its 245 year birthday up this summer, the United States may soon be coming to an end. Let’s hope not, but we should all be prepared, just in case.

Episode 46 – Sneak Preview Of My Next Post-Apoc Book

Included in this episode is an audio reading of chapter 2 of my still-in-progress post-apocalyptic book, tentatively entitled EMP 3. This book will probably be released next summer, and will join the earlier books in the “All At Once” series, which are entitled EMP: The End Of The Grid As We Know It and EMP NYC. At the end of today’s podcast I will have an announcement of a freebie.

These two fictional books join my other two non-fiction books on prepping, which are entitled Dirt Cheap Valuable Prepping, and Dirt Cheap Valuable Survival Retreat.

As you listen to the audio recording of chapter 2 of my next fictional book, keep in mind that, like my other fictional books, I include a lot of conflicts and survival lessons, but in unexpected ways and in unusual settings. This may be the only “when it happens” chapter of a post-apocalyptic book that takes place at an art auction in London.

This book will also tie together the stories of the various family members from the earlier books, and explain how the characters manage to survive and how they try to reunite. I think you will enjoy this book when it comes out.

Episode 45 – Invasion Of The Californians

Be afraid: Californians are leaving the dump that California has become, and they may be coming to your state, bringing their voting habits with them!

Reportedly, it cost four times as much to rent a moving truck in San Francisco for a move to Austin, Texas, than the other way around. Why? Because Californians have voted so liberal for so long that the once-Golden State has become a nightmare. There is now an exodus of Californians to better-run states, with the problem being that ex-Californians vote like they are still back home. There are signs that other states, like Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado and Texas, may be so populated by ex-Californians that someday the California transplants will outvote the locals, making the state where they moved just as bad as California was.

That is what has happened to Portland, Oregon, which used to be a nice place. Now it is filled with angry California transplants, who are doing their best to turn this once-pleasant location into east Los Angeles. Same for other once-pleasant locations.

If you look around and notice that this might be happening to your area, it might be time to move further away, or to set up a survival retreat far enough away so that you and your family may actually be able to survive if times get really bad.

Setting up a survival retreat is the subject of my book, Dirt Cheap Valuable Survival Retreat. In that book I discuss how inexpensive it is to buy a large piece of vacant land out in the country. The book lists several websites that will enable you to find very inexpensive properties only a few hours drive away, no matter where you live. My book also discusses what to do after you acquire the vacant land, like setting up a front gate, preparing safe dirt roads, digging a water well and preparing an inexpensive place to live. Safe storage of survival equipment is also described.

Other topics discussed in this episode include the harvesting of Hunter Biden’s abandoned laptop hard drive, which I think is a smoking gun that will doom presidential candidate Joe Biden and his family for years to come, regardless of this year’s election results. This scandal also has the feel of the tip if the iceberg, so that it may also ensnare other higher-ups from the Obama administration.

Another topic discussed in this episode is the Covid research I did for my sister, who might have contracted this virus. The hydroxychloroquine controversy has not gone away, and this medication still appears to be just as safe and beneficial (together with other medications) as it was discovered to be a few months ago. Some doctors have set up a website here that publishes some facts about this drug. One of the doctors in this group, Dr. Simone Gold, says that “hydroxychloroquine is a magic bullet if you take it early.”

I also found an article that discusses how well the continent of Africa is doing in its fight with Covid, because hydroxychloroquine, which was already used to survive malaria, is plentiful there and can also be used to survive Covid.

This episode also incudes discussion of Michelle Obama’s annoying video, in which she claimed that BLM protests are entirely peaceful, and that it is racist to suggest otherwise. Maybe our eyes and ears are racist when we see videos like this and this, or this one, when BLM protesters are attacking nearby citizens or police officers, and rioting. A few weeks ago, after someone tried to assassinate two sheriff’s deputies in Compton, California, BLM protesters showed up and created a disturbance at the hospital where the deputies were taken. The BLM protesters yelled out “I hope they die,” and “you’re next” at the police officers guarding the hospital.

It could be that Michelle Obama might not know about all this BLM violence if it is difficult to access the news from her 7000-square-foot mansion in Martha’s Vineyard.

Don’t forget your homework assignment:

Before voting in this year’s election, you need to watch one or both of the following movies:

High Noon

The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance

Episode 41 – Anarchy Ensues

The last several weeks have seen total anarchy in the streets of many big cities in the United States, following the death of an African-American, George Floyd, at the hands of his arresting police officers in Milwaukee May 25, 2020. In the weeks that followed, Floyd’s death has become a distant memory, replaced by restless 20-somethings bent on destroying statues and businesses, and threatening and attacking any innocent pedestrians or motorists nearby. God only knows where this will all end.

In this episode I discuss the stupidest idea I have ever seen adapted on a mass scale, that of eliminating police forces, and how it will endanger minority neighborhoods while the wealthy and well-connected remain protected by their own private security. In a way, this is already taking place in Milwaukee, where the city council has voted to eliminate the police for the rest of the city, but, citing death threats, has kept publicly-funded security forces for themselves. What if a regular citizen needs protection? Tough luck. Expect to see more and more of this. I guess some people are just more equal than others.

I also discuss some ideas on how to avoid dangerous mobs, and I suggest setting up some rules on when a motorist should be allowed to drive through an angry mob to protect his or her life. This is becoming more and more of an issue in America today, as angry mobs stream into streets and highways, block traffic, and attack cars and people. (For a history lesson on why this is important, check out this disturbing video of the innocent trucker, Reginald Denny, attacked by a mob blocking a street, during the Rodney King riots in Los Angeles in 1992.)

Here is the link of the armed mob in Lansing, Michigan, threatening motorists and telling them to leave, One can only hope that in a few days the police, who were nearby watching this, will issue felony arrest warrants for the felonious protesters.

Here is a news video of a protester in Alamosa, Colorado, who shot the driver of a truck who slowed down, then tried to drive very slowly though a crowd of protesters standing in the street. The driver is now on life support, and his family set up a Go Fund Me at this link here not only to pay his medical expenses but also to support his daughter. I encourage you to donate.

Here is a link to some great pepper spray, available on Amazon. (Only buy this if it is legal in your area.)

Here is a link to a great self-defense item (actually it is called a “multi-tool hatchet”) sold on Amazon.

There is always the good old “neck-knife,” sold on Amazon here.

Episode 39 – What Has Worked

Since our country has been shut down and everyone told to stay home and go broke, some (but not all) of my family’s preps have worked out. In this episode I go over the preps that have worked.

First, I visit our chicken coup. Our chickens have continued to lay eggs, and we have not needed to buy any from the grocery stores. Have you ever considered setting up a chicken coup? It is easier than you might think, it produces great eggs, and it’s fun!

Next, I go to our survival retreat and walk through one of our two shipping containers that is filled with MREs, freeze-dried food (mostly Mountain House) and various supplies. If you have the means, I strongly suggest you buy a survival retreat, get a shipping container and fill it up with food and supplies. I discussed what supplies you need and how to find property to buy and where and how to get a shipping container in my two books, Dirt Cheap Valuable Prepping, and Dirt Cheap Valuable Survival Retreat.

I am not a doctor and I have not had any medical training, but at the end of this episode I lament  how some treatments that look to be effective in treating Covid-19 have become political issues. No one seemed to care about them until President Trump suggested that anyone infected with this virus ask their doctor about them.

PJ Media has a great roundup of the controversy here. Here is a link to a great interview of one of the doctors who used this regimen to treat his Covid-19 patients. Here is the link to a video of another doctor discussing this regimen. A French doctor discusses his success hereHere and here are great testimonies from people who had the virus but were cured by use of these pills. Here is an interesting video of a man whose Covid-19 symptoms were so bad that he called his friends to say goodbye. One of his friends suggested he ask his doctor about hydroxychloroquine, which he did, and after taking the drug saw his symptoms vanish.

If you feel that you are infected with Covid-19, talk with a doctor before deciding to begin or end any medication, including those discussed in these videos.

This controversy reminded me of the DDT controversy from days gone by: politics stands in the way of protecting people, and deaths may result. Here is a great book on that subject.

Here are some useful links:

McMurray Hatchery: this website has all you need to know about chicken coups. It even sells chickens, which can be shipped to you! Also, check out their blog.

Here is the link to the great egg incubator I discussed. It costs $150, and kids love watching the eggs hatch.

Amazon sells the gamma seal lids here for $15. These things are great and they fit the 5-gallon buckets that can be bought at most hardware stores.

Here is a link to a pouch of Mountain House freeze-fried spaghetti that costs only $10. Just try it out! Open the envelope, remove the oxygen sensor, pour in some hot water, let it sit for 15 minutes, then eat it. You will see what I mean. This food has a shelf-life of 35 years, and it’s tasty!

Episode 36 – Assorted Rants

In this least-prepping-oriented episode of this prepping podcast, I let loose with a few rants that have been building up for a while. The Trump impeachment gets a hearty disapproval, Jack Wilson gets a hearty “atta boy” for his excellent head-shot under pressure, which saved the lives of many church-goers at West Freeway Church of Christ outside of Fort Worth, Texas, on December 29, and the Soleimani killing gets an enthusiastic two thumbs way up, not only from me but from a human rights activist and a Congressman.

As an aside, President Trump figured that some of the money given to Iran by the Obama administration paid for some of the missiles and armaments that were sent back to us, but his accusation came a few years after Secretary of State John Kerry predicted the same thing.

I was just getting started! Greta, whose last name will go unmentioned, came up for some well-deserved criticism. I did not mention coal, but here is a great video on the benefits of all fossil fuels.

I ended the episode in discussing a harsh “lesson learned” courtesy of my out-of-date Amazon Wishlist.  Hopefully, future Christmases will have fewer indignities now that all Neil Diamond videos are scrubbed from said list.

PS: Here is a great blog — check it out.
